Living in the UK

Getting around

London with its surrounding towns and cities is very similar to Sydney , Melbourne and Brisbane. We have many ways to get around, from trains , buses,  the infamous Underground or simply  jumping on a bike.
Airports for both domestic and international flights are located throughout the UK, making travel simple and hassle free.

Money Matters

County Teachers can help arrange a bank account with HSBC . Once we have made an appointment to register with the bank, you will be asked to produce your passport and a letter of support, which your County Teachers consultant will happily organise for you.

Accommodation

Having a roof over your head is going to be one of the most important ticks on the check list.
We can’t choose or arrange your accommodation but we are here to help and can advise you on what you’ll need to know. Like, ideal places to live, locations to avoid, what you should be paying and what bills you’ll have to pay!

Healthcare
Working for County Teachers or a local school in a permanent position means you will be contributing to National Insurance in the tax that you are paying. This means you will be entitled to free healthcare in the UK. Healthcare in the UK is provided by the National Health Service (NHS). You should register with an NHS doctor when you arrive.
Prescriptions can be filled at your local pharmacist and cost a dispensing fee of approximately £7.10 per item.

Travel Opportunities

In addition to an excellent career move, teaching in the United Kingdom also offers you incredible travel opportunities. Europe is a stone’s throw away, making travel over weekends and school holidays a breeze! Drive to Wales, take the train to Paris, fly to Rome ….. Europe is at your doorstep.
